MURRAY DOWNS MEN

A SMALL field took to the course for Tuesday’s mixed Stableford event.

Winner of the day was Ron Munro with 37 points on a countback from Tony Ford.

NTPs 2nd John Tripodi, 5th Robert Hinton, 11th and 15th Gary Morris.

Numbers increased for Thursday’s mixed Stableford event.

The best score of the day belonged to A Grade winner Shrek Peterson with a very fine round of 41 points off his 9 handicap.

Runner-up in A Grade was David McClelland with 35 points on countback.

B Grade winner Malcolm Talbot had a very handy score of 38 points from his 18 handicap, while runner-up Rod Proctor carded 36 points.

Murray Conn’s 36 points was good enough for him to take out C Grade ahead of Gary Hughes with 35 points on countback.

NTPs 2nd Wayne Such, 5th Luke Rodgers, 11th Brenton Gurnnet, 15th Graeme Cox.

Friday’s event was another mixed Stableford comp.

A Grade winner Darian Male had a great round of 40 points from his 12 handicap, while runner-up Shane Ingram also had a great round of 39 points.

The best score of the day belonged to B Grade winner Jack Fowler with a great score of 42 points from his 17 handicap, while runner-up Zac Haywood scored 38 points.

NTPs 2nd Malcolm Talbot, 5th Fiona Prendergast, 11th Claris Bourne, 15th Michael Svilar.

The warm weather had no effect on the scoring for Saturday’s competition with some fantastic scoring throughout all grades.

Medway Golf Club visitor Jason Hough’s 39 points was good enough to take out A Grade ahead of Lleyton McLean with 37 points.

B Grade winner Rodney Bishop had a superb score of 42 points from his 17 handicap, finishing three clear of runner-up Phillip Benton who had 39 points.

The best score of the day belonged to C Grade winner Mark Fletcher who amassed 44 points from his 28 handicap which is sure to attract some attention from the handicapper.

Runner-up in C Grade was Andrew Lolicato with 38 points.

NTPs 2nd Brian Elliot, 5th Graeme Mathiske, 11th Laurie Shipsides, 15th Fred Fletcher.

On Sunday a decent field gathered for the Easter Sunday Stableford competition.

A Grade winner Brenton Halligan had a very handy score of 39 points from his 9 handicap, runner-up Kristy Gordon scored 37 points.

B Grade winner Daniel Lavey had the best score of the day with 42 points from his 20 handicap.

Runner-up was Melbourne Airport GC visitor Peter Domotor with 36 points on countback.

NTPs 2nd Eugene Dunn, 5th Gerard Moloney, 11th Ken Gregory, 15th Dale Smith.


MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

KATHRYN Brennan was the winner of the Anniversary Cup event which was played on March 27.

This event commemorates the opening of the golf course in 1991, as a result Kath will have her name engraved on the perpetual trophy presented at the conclusion of the golf season.

Kathy’s score of 40 points was a personal best at Murray Downs and resulted in her 37 handicap reduced by one shot and the prize for the best score of the day.

Runner-up in C Grade was Jo Williams (43) 38 points.

Kathy Parkinson (15) won A Grade by one point from Lynne Bishop (11) and the B Grade prizes went to Julie Overall (34) 35 points from Jill Brown (34) 33 points.

Melita Sartori 37 points, Georgina Douglas 35 points and Julie McLennan 33 points were the ball pool leaders.

Jo Williams, Nonie Domaille, Lynne Bishop and Kathy Parkinson were the nearest-the-pin winners.

The first Wednesday in April saw the monthly medal go to 29 marker Lynne Lawry with a score of 71 net, this was Lynne’s third medal at the club.

Runner-up in B Grade was Kerry Gammom (34) 73 net.

Jeannete Tucker is just back from a cruise around Australia and, like a good racehorse after a spell, scored 72 net from her 19 handicap to win A Grade on a countback from Nonie Domaille (18).

Chris Warburton’s 30 putts was the best of the rest and she also collected the jackpot on the 11th with a tee shot that landed 130cm from the pin.

The ball rundown was led by Lisa Brady 73, Kerry McDonald 74 and Mary-Anne Davis and Julie Overall both 74.

Mary-Anne Davis and nearest-the-pin specialists Kathy Parkinson and Nonie Domaille were successful on the other par-threes.

The annual Golf on the Murray event will be played next Wednesday. The event has been changed from a four-ball to an Ambrose in pairs format.

Winner: Narelle Fraser 82/67.

Runner-up : Tracey Burge 98/73 on countback from Deb Farley 105/73.

Nearest the pin: 1/10 Narelle Fraser.

Nearest the pin: 5/14 Tracey Burge.

Balls down the line Janet Brauer Mary Robinson.

Least putts: Narelle Fraser 30.

Trophy donor: Tooleybuc Sporting Club.
